Wet lands Description:
This oil on canvas painting is signed W.M. Speed and is dated 1896 in the original gilt frame. This painting shows a country wet lands landscape, probably the Fens, painted in autumn. The picture depicts trees, water and wetlands. This is a pleasing simple picture.
Adriatic Sea Description:
This oil on canvas painting is signed W.M. Speed and is dated 1896 in the original gilt frame.
Venice is visible in the hazy background. There is an excellent water reflection and sky visual. Overall, this is a very pleasing painting.
This item would look great in a variety of rooms from the hall way, to the living room or bedroom. This truly is a very beautiful item and would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own such a lovely antique item.
Condition Report:
Both pictures have been cleaned and re-backed. There is a very small tear on the furthest tree in the wetlands picture (hardly visible). There is a small indentation in the canvas below the largest tree, but both can only be slightly detected in a certain light. There is a very small strip of plaster missing on the top rim (this has been gilded over). There is also a small strip of plaster missing in the bottom right corner (near the signature). There is a very small indentation on left hand side of the Adriatic Sea canvas. This is hardly noticeable and could be disguised with paint. Overall, both paintings are in good condition and given the age of these items, some minor wear and tear is always to be expected.
