Brave Fine Art has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
Acquired from Scandinavia, the history of this splendid portrait is somewhat enigmatic.
His attire matches the expectations of the 1650s/1660s and he feels a little Dutch in appearance.

Previously, it’s been attributed as a 17th-century work but we feel that it’s a later copy. Perhaps produced for a noble family to indicate its lineage.
Held within a gilt frame.
