An unusual piece, this painting is on Slate which had been specially prepared to take the oil pigments

It is unsigned so may have been painted by either Landseer or one of his pupils

Most unfortunately the slate has been broken and repaired and then strengthened with a wooden backing

Super painting capturing the terrified facial expressions of the trio

The slate is 20” in diameter
