How do I choose the right size?

Measure your dining space carefully, allowing ample clearance around all sides for chairs and movement. Consider whether you need an extendable draw leaf mechanism to accommodate extra guests. Matching the length of the board to the scale of the room ensures the furniture anchors the interior without obstructing daily circulation.

Can I use these tables daily?

Solid timber boards were built for robust, everyday use and withstand the demands of modern family life comfortably. Regular maintenance with appropriate wax or oil protects the surface from moisture and daily wear. Using mats and clearing spills promptly preserves the historic timber while keeping the surface functional for meals.

Are benches original to these tables?

While many tables survive independently, period sets occasionally include matching benches sharing identical timber and support structures. Benches designed with shaped trestle ends reflect the architectural styling of the main dining board. Pairing antique benches with a refectory table recreates traditional communal seating arrangements.
