Where should I place an enfilade?

An enfilade works effectively along a long dining room wall or in a spacious hallway where its linear proportions provide substantial storage without blocking circulation. The low height of these cabinets also allows the top surface to function as a display area for lamps, ceramics, or mirrors.

How do I clean provincial wood?

Maintain the surface of oak, cherry, and chestnut by dusting with a dry, soft cloth and occasionally applying a traditional beeswax to nourish the timber. Avoid using modern silicone sprays or harsh chemical cleaners that can degrade the historic patination of the wood.

Are these cabinets heavy?

These pieces are constructed from solid regional hardwoods and thick iron fittings, making them substantially heavy items that require adequate lifting assistance. Ensure the chosen floor location is level to support the weight and prevent doors from catching on uneven boards.

What is a sacristy cabinet?

A sacristy cabinet is a low storage piece originating from ecclesiastical contexts, built with the same heavy timber construction as domestic sideboards. These pieces offer deep enclosed shelving originally intended for church vestments and vessels.
