What periods do these artworks cover?

The works span from the late eighteenth century through the Victorian era and into the mid-twentieth century. Styles evolve from early topographical recordings to impressionist and expressionist interpretations. Pieces frequently capture changing urban landscapes across British and European cities during these periods.

How should I display paper art?

Paper artworks require protection behind glass to shield the delicate medium from moisture and airborne dust. Framing with acid-free mounts prevents discolouration of the paper support. Position pieces away from direct sunlight to preserve the original pigments in watercolours and pastels.

Are these works original?

The selection includes original hand-painted watercolours, pastels, and mixed media works alongside period etchings and lithographs. Each technique offers a distinct visual texture depending on the artist's chosen medium. Signatures and dates on individual pieces help establish authenticity and provenance.

How do I identify cityscapes?

Titles and inscriptions often name specific locations such as London, Paris, Venice, or regional British towns. Architectural landmarks like bridges, cathedrals, and historic squares provide visual clues to the depicted city. Artists frequently documented recognizable monuments during their travels across Europe.
