Over time, the form transitioned into general bedside storage for nighttime accessories and personal items while retaining the compact cupboard configuration.

How do I care for marble tops?

Marble surfaces benefit from regular wiping with a soft, damp cloth and neutral soap. Avoid acidic liquids, alcohol, and harsh cleaning agents that can etch the polished stone. Applying a specialist wax periodically helps protect the porous surface against staining while preserving the natural lustre of the material.

Are these cabinets handed?

Many pairs are constructed as handed units, meaning the cupboard doors open away from the bed on each respective side. This symmetrical arrangement maintains visual balance when positioned against a wall. Checking the hinge placement helps determine if the pair was created to mirror each other precisely.

Louis XV style pieces exhibit flowing curves, cabriole legs, and asymmetrical rococo ornamentation. The overall aesthetic prioritises organic shapes and naturalistic floral motifs. Louis XVI style shifts towards neoclassical straight lines, fluted tapered legs, and geometric symmetry, reflecting a revival of classical architectural proportions.
