What periods do these pieces cover?

The selection spans from the eighteenth century through the nineteenth and Victorian eras into the mid-twentieth century. Works range from classical eighteenth-century engravings to mid-century oil paintings and vintage mixed media. Each period brings distinct printing or painting techniques, reflecting the architectural interests of its time.

How should I hang a large framed piece?

Due to the substantial scale and weight of these works, secure fixings into structural wall studs or appropriate masonry anchors are essential. Ensure the hanging wire and frame backing remain stable before mounting. Position the centre of the artwork at approximate eye level to create a balanced focal point in the room.

Are the frames original to the art?

Some pieces retain their original surrounds, such as Hogarth frames or period wooden mouldings specifically noted in the listing details. Other works feature complementary framing chosen to protect and display the paper or canvas. Checking individual descriptions clarifies whether a frame dates to the same period as the artwork.

How do I care for antique paper and canvas?

Keep framed pieces away from direct sunlight to prevent fading on watercolours, prints, and oil paintings. Maintain a stable room temperature to protect delicate paper, wood panels, and canvas surfaces from humidity shifts. Dust wooden frames gently with a dry cloth and avoid using liquid cleaners near the exposed artwork.
