Where were these corner cupboards hung?

These cabinets were typically placed in the corners of parlours, dining rooms or kitchens to utilise awkward spaces for storage. Their triangular footprint allowed them to sit flush against two adjacent walls without protruding into the main floor area.

How do I care for antique oak wall furniture?

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels and keep the timber away from direct heat sources to prevent the wood from splitting. Apply a traditional beeswax polish sparingly to nourish the surface without building up excessive residue.

What is the difference between a plate rack and a delft rack?

Plate racks and delft racks both provide open wall storage for ceramics, though regional terminology often links delft racks specifically to wider display boards. Both forms utilise wooden slats or retaining rails to support plates safely in an upright position.

How can I tell a Welsh country piece apart?

Welsh pieces often exhibit distinctive proportions, local timber selections and specific regional decorative motifs like inlaid banding or carved architectural details. Workshops in regions such as Montgomeryshire developed identifiable local traits in their hanging spice cupboards and corner cabinets.
