What is a gueridon table?

A gueridon is a small circular table supported by a single central column or pedestal. They were originally introduced in France during the seventeenth century as candle stands. Over time, the form evolved into a decorative occasional table often topped with marble and detailed marquetry inlay.

How do I care for inlaid wood?

Inlaid wooden surfaces require protection from direct sunlight and extreme changes in humidity. Consistent temperature helps prevent the delicate veneers from lifting or cracking. Apply a traditional beeswax polish occasionally to nourish the timber and maintain a soft natural lustre without building up heavy residue.

Where can I place a pedestal table?

A pedestal table fits comfortably beside a seating area as a convenient surface for lamps and small objects. Circular versions work well in the centre of a room or within an entrance hallway. Smaller bedside cabinets serve effectively as lamp stands in a bedroom while providing enclosed storage space.
