What is a nursing chair?

A nursing chair is a low-seated armchair designed in the nineteenth century for comfort while holding infants or tending to domestic tasks. The low profile allowed the sitter to remain close to the floor and near the hearth.

Are these chairs comfortable for daily use?

These historic seats offer firm support derived from traditional padding and upholstery methods. Their dimensions reflect nineteenth century ergonomics rather than modern deep cushioning. Placing them in low-traffic areas helps preserve the textile upholstery over time.

How do I care for wool needlepoint?

Wool needlepoint benefits from gentle vacuuming through a mesh attachment to remove surface dust. Keeping the textile away from direct sunlight prevents fading of the wool threads. Professional textile cleaning maintains the integrity of older stitched surfaces.
