How do I date a celadon ceramic?

Dating relies on stylistic clues, form, weight, and the character of the clay body visible at the unglazed foot. Early pieces from the Song or Yuan dynasties often show different potting techniques compared to later Ming and Qing iterations. Kiln origins such as Longquan provide further context when matching glaze characteristics and decorative motifs to established historical periods.

Were these pieces converted into lamps later?

Several vases and jars on this market page have been fitted as table lamps using brass or other hardware during the nineteenth or twentieth centuries. Such adaptations reflect how owners repurposed antique vessels for domestic interiors. Buyers should examine the mounting to determine whether the original ceramic body remains unaltered beneath the electrical fittings.

How should I display celadon ceramics at home?

These ceramic pieces suit spaces with natural light that highlights the subtle variations of the green glaze. Placing bowls or dishes on neutral surfaces allows the carved or moulded details to stand out. Heavier items like jars and lamps anchor side tables or mantelpieces while offering functional utility.
