How do I use a dropleaf table daily?

Keep the leaves dropped against the sides to save floor space in a hallway or living room, then raise them when you need an extra surface. Support the hinged flaps securely with their swing legs before placing heavy items on the extended top.

What is the difference between a pembroke table and a sofa table?

A pembroke table typically has smaller square or rectangular proportions with narrow drop leaves on the sides. A sofa table is elongated with drop leaves positioned on the two short ends, designed originally to sit behind a sofa.

How do I tell a Georgian table from an Edwardian one?

Georgian tables date from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, relying on clean mahogany surfaces, simple pedestal bases, or tapered legs. Edwardian tables from around 1900 frequently incorporate boxwood inlay, satinwood banding, and formats adapted for coffee tables or low occasional use.

Can I seat eight people at these dining tables?

Several large Georgian examples are specifically noted as extending or large enough to seat eight guests comfortably. Check the extended dimensions and the clearance of the swing legs to ensure adequate legroom for seating.
