What is a bypass ring?

A bypass ring is a design where the shank does not meet in a full circle, instead having the two ends cross past one another. This overlapping structure gives the piece a continuous, flowing movement around the finger.

How do I care for antique rings?

These rings require gentle handling to preserve their delicate gold bands and stone settings over time. Regular inspection by a jeweller helps ensure the old cut diamonds and paired gems remain secure within their mounts.

What materials are used?

The listings show combinations of 18ct gold and platinum used as the primary structural metals for the bands. Gemstones incorporated into the designs include diamonds, sapphires, and synthetic rubies.

How old are these rings?

The pieces available date from the Edwardian period up through 1930, capturing early twentieth-century goldsmithing. Specific assay marks, such as those from Chester in 1905, help pinpoint the exact year of creation.
