This decorative kovsh cup takes the traditional boat-shaped form associated with Imperial Russian vessels, featuring a raised circular foot, an internal gold-plated finish, and a distinct hook-shaped handle. Belonging to the Decorative Bowls & Vessels category and dating to the twentieth century, the piece employs solid silver-gilt and cloisonne enamel materials. The exterior displays a multicoloured palette with detailed floral scrollwork, whilst the metalwork exhibits polished surfaces on the rim and base. Measuring 9 cm long by 5.8 cm across, the vessel sits neatly on a sideboard top to hold small decorative items or stand alone as a cabinet display piece. The silver content is indicated by the 84 zolotnik mark, and the metal tests as high-grade silver. The construction remains free from dings, splits, and repairs, presenting a clean profile with contrasting enamelled sections across the hull and handle.

A kovsh is a traditional Russian boat-shaped drinking vessel or ladle, originally used for serving beverages such as mead or vodka, which later evolved into a ceremonial decorative gift in Russian silversmithing.

Silversmiths shaped the body from silver, soldered thin silver wire partitions onto the surface to create detailed motifs, filled the compartments with powdered glass enamel, fired the piece, and gilded the exposed silver.

Authentic Russian silver pieces carry official hallmarking, typically including the 84 zolotnik purity mark representing 875/1000 silver content, along with an official city stamp and a makers mark struck into the metal surface.

These compact decorative vessels function well as accent objects displayed inside a glass cabinet, arranged on a sideboard top, or placed on a mantlepiece within a curated display.

Dust gently using a dry, soft microfibre cloth and avoid immersing the vessel in water or applying abrasive chemical polishes, as these can strip the gold layer and damage delicate enamelling.
