Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pedestal table dates from the 20th century, around 1930, and follows the Rococo taste within a French Chateau style. The piece combines a square white onyx top with a chiseled brass framework in a gold colour, showing a surface patina. Ornate scrollwork aprons feature cast acanthus leaves and swags beneath the top surface, supported by four tubular cabriole legs. These legs link through a central stretcher carrying an onyx finial, and terminate on scrolled back feet. The table measures 79.5 cm high, 42 cm wide, and 42 cm deep. In a modern interior, this pedestal table suits placement in an empty corner as a decorative stand for a vase, sculpture, or lamp. The compact footprint makes it appropriate for smaller spaces such as hallways, landings, or drawing rooms where surface display space is needed without a large physical volume. The stone top provides a stable, wipeable platform, while the open framework maintains a light visual presence against a wall.

FAQs

These tables typically feature a polished natural stone top, such as onyx or marble, set within a cast or chiseled brass frame incorporating Rococo-inspired motifs like cabriole legs, scrollwork aprons, and ornamental finials.

Tables from this period commonly combine cast or stamped brass, gilt bronze, or iron with quarried stone tops such as alabaster, marble, or onyx to create contrasting textures and tone.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-chiseled or cast details with signs of natural oxidisation on the metalwork, along with genuine stone tops showing unique vein patterns and minor natural fissures.

Position the piece in a corner, hallway, or bay window to showcase a single ceramic vase, bronze sculpture, or indoor plant, serving as a focal accent against neutral walls.

Dust the brass with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners that strip patination. Clean the onyx top with a damp cloth using pH-neutral soap, drying immediately to prevent water spots.
