This pair of Regency mahogany wine tables dates from circa 1820, with adaptations. Each piece is fashioned from dark brown timber, exhibiting a deep rich colour and patina across the circular dish tops, banded edges, and tapering fluted columns. The surfaces are supported by three fluted splayed legs that terminate in neat turned feet. The practical proportions measure 69 cm in height with a width of 40 cm. These versatile occasional pieces suit placement at the end of a sofa or beside a seating area in a traditional or period interior. They provide convenient surfaces for drinks, small lamps, or decorative objects while maintaining a compact footprint that integrates easily into various room layouts.

Originating in early 19th-century Britain, Regency wine tables are compact occasional tables designed with circular tops, central turned pedestals, and tripod bases. They were created to be lightweight and portable for social gatherings.

These tables were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut. Construction relied on hand-turned pedestal columns, carved tripod legs, and dovetailed or screwed joints beneath the tabletop.

Authentic period examples feature hand-planed tops, visible tool marks on non-visible surfaces, original brass or wooden fixings underneath, and natural patination along the turned stems and base.

Small wine tables serve well as companion tables alongside armchairs or sofas to hold books, small lamps, or drinks. Their compact footprint makes them suitable for narrow alcoves, reading nooks, or beside beds.

Mahogany surfaces should be dusted regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and treated periodically with beeswax polish. Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent cracking or bleaching.
