Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The canterbury originated in the late 18th century in England as a stand for sheet music and folios, reportedly commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

They were typically constructed from high-quality hardwoods like walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, often featuring burr veneer, turned pilasters, fretwork partitions, and small brass castors.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails in the drawers, natural timber ageing, traditional French polish finishes, and cast brass hardware rather than modern alloys.

It functions effectively as a sophisticated bedside table, a side table beside a sofa, or a neat holder for periodicals and books in a traditional or transitional living space.

Maintain a stable indoor humidity level, avoid direct sunlight to prevent veneer fading, and periodically nourish the wood with a traditional beeswax polish while avoiding synthetic silicones.
