Hoshiarpur furniture originates from the Punjab region of India, specifically renowned during the 19th century for intricate micro-mosaic inlay work featuring bone or ivory set into dark wood substrates.

These pieces typically utilise dense indigenous woods such as shisham (Indian rosewood) or teak, intricately decorated with hand-carved floral patterns and inlaid bone, horn, or mother-of-pearl.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut micro-inlay with slight irregularities, traditional peg joinery, and the characteristic use of geometric or scrolling floral motifs rather than mass-produced stencilling.

Pairing this detailed piece with minimalist or neutral modern surroundings allows the intricate craftsmanship and geometric silhouette to serve as a distinct focal point.

Maintain the wood and inlay by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying occasional natural beeswax, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive moisture.
