Description

A 19th Century French Bronze of Mercury seated. This well cast figure is after Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, 1714-1785 and stands on its original Rosso Levanto marble base. In very good condition. French. Circa 1870 330mm high, 190mm wide and 180mm deep.

N.B. The original model, "Mercury Attaching his Talaria" of 1740 by Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, is terracotta and is now in the Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
