19th C Carved Pine Polychrome Life Size Model of a Medieval King

This rare and fine quality life sized European medieval king is dressed for battle. He is standing with his sword in one hand and a scroll in the, either to give or receive an official agreement.

His costume would represent the 11th-13th century. He has metal articulated boots and chain mail Armor with a leather decorated tunic and a red cloth cloak. He wears his crown with a cloth neck veil to protect against the sun.

This very unusual piece was made in the mid-19th century, carved from pine and finished in gesso and polychrome painted in fine detail. It is in good original condition with age related patination and wears.

This piece is presented on a slightly later ebonized wooden stand, circa 1870
