Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Her right hand holding a bunch of flowers to her hip. Her hair is tied up in a swirl with a flower adornment. She stands 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall on an integral base which features a naturalistic ground with grass a flowers. Signed into the rim of the base is "C. Cumberworth" and "E. Quesnel". A label on the underside of the base appears to read "L' Immuena"(?). The diameter of the base is 4 inches (10cm).
The second bronze in this pair has her plaited hair tied up in a swirl, she is holding an apparently dead bird with her right hand to her right breast. Her left arm hangs loosely to her left side, with head bowed. She stands with her right leg bent, standing on a small bunch/stack of flowers. The naturalistic base is integral to the figure and is signed to the edge "C. Cumberworth" and "E. Quesnel". She stands 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall. The diameter of the base is 4 inches (10cm). A label to the underside of the base appears to read "La Candour".

The Sculptor: The appearance of two signatures on the bases implies Charles Cumberworth worked, in this case, with E. Quesnel believed to be Edouard Quesnel (1842-1891). Quesnel was born in 1842, so would have been a young boy (possibly an apprentice, learning the trade) at the time of this work. Quesnel went on to become an accomplished sculptor in his own right later in life.
Charles Cumberworth was born in Verdun in 1811 and brought to Paris as an infant. He died in paris in 1852. He entered the School of Fine Arts in 1829. From 1833-1848 he exhibited at the Paris Salon. His more famous sculptures include The statue of Marie Amelie, Queen of the French and The Statue of the Duke of Montpensier and a Bronze bust of Paul Féval. He also exhibited 'Paul & Virginia" at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1846. He worked with the Maison Susse Foundry. Susse had a shop at the junction of Rue Vivienne and Place de la Bourse in Paris.
