Fine Quality Vintage Carved Wooden Figure of a Standing Hunting Dog by Hans Huggler-seiler (1880-1975)

Description

Beautiful carved vintage wooden figure of a standing hunting dog (Berner Laufhund), a popular dog between 1900-1960, made in the first half of the 20th century. Marked on the edge of the base ‘Hs Huggler-Seiler, Brienz’ (Switzerland), a member of the famous Huggler wood-carving family (Johann Huggler, 1834–1912, was known as the ‘king of woodcarving of Brienz’). The company is still in operation today: see www.huggler-holzbildhauerei.ch/en/company/history.

Beautifully and realistically carved by a master craftsman. Measures 21.5cm x 21.5cm x 10.5cm. Lovely condition and patina.
