Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century French provincial dining bench is constructed from solid beech and pine timbers with a natural wood and distressed white paint finish. The long rustic farmhouse seating incorporates a three-panelled backrest, integrated armrests, and straight legs, showing visible original surface patina and wear. The piece measures 415 cm in length, 83 cm in height, and 50 cm in depth, providing substantial proportions. Suitable for placement along a large dining table in a spacious kitchen, hallway, or communal living area, the bench accommodates multiple sitters comfortably. The sturdy construction and classic provincial styling make it a practical and functional seating option for everyday use in modern interiors.

FAQs

French provincial benches were crafted for utility in rural homes, featuring elongated seats, panelled backrests, and functional wooden frames designed to accommodate multiple people along communal dining tables.

Traditional country benches are constructed from regional softwoods or hardwoods such as pine and oak, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery along with wooden pegging to ensure long-term structural stability.

Authentic pieces display signs of genuine historic usage, such as hand-planed timber surfaces, patinated wood grain, hand-cut joinery, and layered remnants of historical paint washes.

A long bench can be paired with an extended dining table, placed along an entryway wall, or styled with linen cushions and sheepskin throws to complement a contemporary interior scheme.

Dusting with a dry, lint-free cloth maintains the surface, while occasional light applications of clear beeswax help preserve the timber without altering original paint remnants.
