Japanese Meiji boxwood netsuke of shishi guarding a sacred ball in a cage. Asakusa school, signed Sato Masayoshi (1819-1865). Masayoshi and his followers made a number of netsuke depicting shishi, either singly or in groups. Measures 2.5cm high x 4cm long x 2.5cm deep.
Excellent condition.
