Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Ushak Wool Carpet to the 1880s.
Ushaks were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire. Their designs tend to be more open than Persian rugs and use soft natural dyes. The faded green border colour works so well with the soft reds and muted golden tones.
A wonderful pile is apparent over most of this 140 year old carpet. In very good original condition, with no losses to the outer design and no large repairs. Some small areas of lower wool pile, but nothing significant, most of the carpet has a high pile throughout. No stains or marks to speak of.
Please Request a Home Visit to see this beautiful Ushak carpet at home, we love to travel, having visited clients and interior designers all over the UK for the last 30 years.
