Oushak (or Ushak) carpets originate from the town of Usak in western Turkey, a historic centre for carpet weaving since the Ottoman period. They are renowned for their softer, pastel colour palettes, large-scale floral and medallion motifs, and supple, loosely woven construction.

Traditional Oushak carpets are hand-knotted using high-quality wool for the pile, typically bound to a cotton or wool foundation. The wool is historically dyed using natural plant and mineral dyes, resulting in gentle, muted tones like terracotta, apricot, pale blue, and cream.

Authentic Oushak carpets feature Ghiordes double knots, a lower knot count per square inch, and a characteristic soft, silky pile texture.
