Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1870s.
It features inlaid glass eyes and is signed underneath with a seal within the bronze. Very much in the style of Seiya, and possibly the artist is Obsyashi. 20ins long from nose to tail!

The Meiji period extended from 1868 until 1912 and represents the period when Japan moved from an isolated feudal society to a modern industrial state. The highly skilled ‘Samurai’ sword makers turned to making beautiful bronze ornaments when the Samurai sword was banned apart from ceremonial use.
