Early 17th Century Sculpture of an Angel, Antique Baroque Carving Renaissance Wood

Description

An elegant 17th sculpture depicting an angel, represented as a youthful figure with wings and a tender expression on his face. He is carrying a martyr's palm in his right hand. Carved in wood, there are traces of polychrome paint remaining. Dating from circa 1650, the figure is most likely Spanish in origin. In good condition commensurate with age, with minor losses including to tip of nose, the height of the sculpture is 30 cm. The angel can be displayed on a wall, or alternatively, on a plinth.
