A patinated bronze Augustus of Prima Porta, Italian, circa 1870, with fine detailing.

This figure of Augustus of Prima Porta is a fine Grand Tour bronze reduction of the original full-length marble portrait statue of Augustus Caesar, the first emperor of the Roman Empire. The original was discovered in 1863 at the Villa of Livia, owned by Augustus’ third wife, Livia Drusilla, in Prima Porta, and is now displayed in the Vatican Museums.
