Stunning very large (145cm tall) antique 19th century Burmese/South East Asian marble or alabaster statue of Buddha, c1890. This is one of the finest examples I have seen in 30 + years of collecting. It has beautiful form and is incredibly heavy - it takes 2 men to move it. The colour / patina is amazing. While the stone is predominately white there is a lovely red pigment running through the back. It has been displayed outside for many years and has weathered wonderfully with a mossy green colour .This could be easily removed if preferred but I think it just adds to the character of the piece. Overall condition is good with only minor wear /rubbing in line with age and use.
