A 20th Century Carved Lime Wood Stand

1920 - 1940
Description

A floor standing carving by Guillaume Fournier, signed on base G Fournier.. Chamois climbing a rocky outcrop. Carved and stained lime or linden wood. A good expressive carving of large size and good patination.. Unusual in that not only is it a decorative sculpture, it also has a carved out bowl supported on the tree trunk. We loaned this carving out to a colleague for a number of years who used it to hold business cards, but it would make a great fruit bowl. The bowl has a crack but it is solid.
