19thc large bronze figure of the lady and the eagle signed h levasseur 1853 -1934 the bronze of great quality by this famous sculpture henri Louis levasseur this French sculpture best known for his historic and mythological figures and religious themes.His sculptures are composed in a realistic often in painstackingly detailed pieces captured mid movement .Born 16th april 1853 in paris he went on to study with auguste Dumont Gabriel jules Thomas and E Planche .He won many awards during his life at both the salon des artistes francais and the art exposition in paris .Today his works are in the colections of the pushkin state museum of fine arts in Moscow .The grohmann museum of Milwaukee school of engineering and the Columbia museum of art at the university of south Carolina among many others .this bronze is agreat example of his work there is a rub on the back as shown in a photograph
