Large Japanese Gilded Bronze Samurai Warrior Okimono-miyao Eisuke

Description

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large and fine quality Meiji period 1868-1912 Okimono by the highly regarded Miyao Eisuke company , this powerful bronze depicts a Samurai warrior in an aggressive stance , the warrior stood holding a huge Censor above his head whilst wielding a large mallet in his right hand , the Censor predominately decorated in high relief with Shi -Shi or Foo Dogs highlighted in Gilt above three Grotesque mask feet , the Samurai dressed in full battle regalia finely decorated throughout with gilded Mon , winged beasts and further stylised decoration , the Kabuto helmet finely chiselled and hand punched , the warrior wearing a Katana Sword and Tanto Dagger to his waistband , the artist has patinated the face and hands in a lighter skin tone as well as highlighting the Samurai Warriors menacing Eyes in a dark Shakudo , the Okimono stands fitted to its original Gold lacquer decorated hardwood base, the base highlighted with Ho-ho Birds (Phoenix) and fire breathing Dragons amidst swirling gilded garlands, another high quality Japanese bronze Okimono from this most sought after artist of the Meiji period, a great addition to your Japanese works of art collection .
