A Large and Impressive Bronze Sculpture

1900 - 1920
Description

RICHTER-ELSNER: a large and most impressive BRONZE SCULPTURE of a naked maiden, ascending steps and carrying an amphora on her shoulder, presumably having filled it with water. This stunning bronze retains its warm colour and fine patina, and measures 31ins (78.5cms) high making this a most imposing Work of Art. Signed by the artist and the foundry.

***This bronze is characteristic of the sculptor Fritz RICHTER-ELSNER (1884-1970) who was artistic director of the famous Oskar Gladenback Hofbildgießerei between 1905-1916. In the 1920s he moved on to working on monumental sculpture and a number of his monuments can be found in Southern Germany.
