Art Deco emerged in the 1920s and reached its peak in the 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, stylised motifs, and a strong emphasis on modernity and luxurious materials.

Craftsmen commonly employed exotic hardwoods, rich veneers such as burr walnut or mahogany, and contrasting lacquer or metal accents to create striking visual depth.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-specific joinery, genuine wood veneers over solid secondary woods, and distinct manufacturing signatures or stylistic markers consistent with 1930s European craftsmanship.

Such pieces function effectively as sculptural accents in living spaces, used to elevate potted greenery, sculptures, or ceramics, thereby adding vertical interest and historical contrast to modern rooms.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate natural wax polish to protect the finish.
