Constant Roux 'Gladiator' 'Life Size' Bronze Sculpture C.1920

Life size bronze bust of a gladiator by Constant Ambroise Roux (1865 - 1929).

This is the largest size of this model. A similar size/ model sold in Sothebys, 16 December 2015 for £6250.

Bronze, light brown-green patina, on a verdigris, veined green and white marble plinth.

Signed 'Constant Roux' and inscribed, Susse Frs Edts Paris' and impressed with the Susse Foundry seal.

Constant Ambroise Roux was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1894 and went on to win medals in 1898, 1900, 1902, 1911 and the Medal of Honour in 1930. He was awarded the Chevalier Legion d'Honneur in 1923.
