"PHRYNE": A charming and quite large French BRONZE SCULPTURE of this famous Greek Courtesan, by Falguiere.

She stands naked, wearing just a simple necklace and bracelet, coquettishly hiding her face behind her right arm. Mounted on a rouge marble base and signed to the integral bronze socle base with "Falguiere" and the founders: "Goupil et Cie, Editeurs". 16ins (41cms) high.

***JEAN ALEXANDRE JOSEPH FALGUIERE was a renown French sculptor and painter. Born in 1831 he produced a number of important works including some notable monuments, before dying in 1900.
