An imposing French art deco male javelin thrower by Jean de Roncourt. Made of spelter with a rich green patina.

Mounted on Belgian black marble base.

Inscribed "J de Roncourt" in marble.

Original casting dated 1920-30.

This piece can sometimes be found signed with the name D. H. Chiparus and has led many to believe that De Roncourt may have been a pseudonym for artist Demetre Chiparus.

Condition: Some slight patina wear and tiny nibbles to marble base.
