Marble Sculpture of a Panther by L Carvin

1920 - 1940
Description

An impressive marble sculpture of a female panther. It is signed L Carvin for Louis Albert Carvin (1875 - 1951). Louis Carvin is better known for his bronze sculptures of animals and there is a smaller bronze version of this sculpture in circulation. It is thought to date from around 1930. Unlike bronze sculptures that are cast in numbers this marble version is possibly unique. It is in good condition with no major damage or breaks. There are some minor chips to the ears and one tooth is damaged.

The maximum dimensions are:

51cm(20") wide

38cm (15") high

21cm (8.5") deep
