Magnificent Large Japanese Meiji Bronze (Tokyo School)

19th century
Description

A truly stunning large japanese bronze figure of a gentleman holding a musical instrument and what looks like an axe head ,with a folded parasol strapped to his back , one foot resting upon an open chest of drawers.

I have had many oriental bronzes over the years, the best elephant groups , tigers etc but the quality of this is simply stunning , great patina and colour and so tactile especially his head , you have just got to rub it !!

It is over two foot high and nearly a foot wide at the base , really heavy substantial bronze in perfect original condition !!
