This pair of side tables originates from 1910 and follows a French Chateau style. The items consist of warm brown walnut woodwork, grey-veined white marble inset tops, and brass hardware, presented in excellent condition. Each oval table incorporates a pierced brass gallery surrounding the top surface, a single frieze drawer with a small round knob, a lower undertier shelf, fluted upright legs, and cabriole-style feet. The measurements are 72 cm high, 41 cm wide, and 32 cm deep. These compact surfaces suit placement at the end of a sofa in a living room or sitting room to hold lamps, drinks, or books.

Originating in late 18th-century France during the Louis XVI period, bouillotte tables were designed specifically for playing a popular card game of the same name. They traditionally feature a circular or oval top framed by a pierced brass gallery to prevent cards and chips from falling off, along with small drawers for card storage.

These tables are typically constructed using hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, topped with inset marble slabs. The decorative galleries and drawer pulls are crafted from polished or patinated brass, providing both functional protection and ornamental contrast.

Key features include straight, fluted, or slender cabriole legs, geometric symmetry, and marble tops inset within pierced brass rim galleries. Hand-cut dovetail joints on the small frieze drawer and natural variations in the marble veining are also key construction hallmarks.

A pair of side tables can be placed on either side of a tailored sofa to anchor a living room arrangement or used as bedside tables in a bedroom. The combination of warm timber, cool marble, and brass accents provides a textured contrast in contemporary spaces.

Clean the marble surface using a soft damp cloth with pH-neutral soap, avoiding acidic cleaning agents that etch natural stone. Preserve the timber polish with microcrystalline wax, and gently wipe the brass gallery with a dry cloth to maintain its natural patina.
