Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A coopered oak water jug is a Victorian-era pouring vessel constructed using miniature barrel-making techniques. Vertical wooden staves are fitted together and bound with metal hoops, combining traditional coopering crafts with silver-plated or sterling silver tableware fittings.

These vessels are primarily constructed from English oak staves bound with silver-plated or solid silver hoops. The spouts, handles, and hinged lids are cast in metal, while finials are often carved from bone, porcelain, or silver.

Authentic pieces feature natural shrinkage lines between the oak staves, brass or copper flush rivets on the metal banding, and makers marks or electroplate stampings near the rim or spout. The interior often retains original ceramic, metal, or enamel linings designed to hold liquids.

Place the vessel on a dining room sideboard, drinks cabinet, or kitchen dresser to introduce warm wood tones and historic character. It functions effectively as a decorative tabletop focal point, a vase for dried florals, or part of a curated barware collection.

Avoid submerging the wooden body in water, as moisture causes oak staves to swell and warp. Clean the silver-plated mounts gently with a soft cloth and specialist silver polish, taking care to avoid getting cream on the unsealed wood, and condition the oak periodically with natural beeswax.
