This Victorian corner whatnot, dating from 1860, is made from figured burr walnut and solid walnut in a warm brown colour. The four graduated bow-fronted tiers display marquetry inlay along their edges and are supported by turned columns with finials at the top and turned feet fitted with original ceramic castors. Each tier features a finely pierced scrollwork bracket at the rear corner, combining Gothic-inspired fretwork with traditional joinery. Measuring 132 cm high, 68.5 cm wide and 50 cm deep, the whatnot provides practical storage and display space for books, ornaments or plants.
