This Regency mahogany and brass magazine table combines two tiers of warm brown polished wood with a solid gold-coloured brass frame. The structure incorporates vertical dividers for periodicals on the middle shelf, turned supports with decorative knops, and outward-curving legs with rounded feet. Dark bevelled mouldings frame the rectangular wooden surfaces, while small brass finials secure the corners of the top tier. Measuring 79 cm high, 45 cm wide, and 33 cm deep, this piece functions as a practical occasional table for holding reading material next to an armchair or at the end of a sofa in a living room or study. The compact two-tier design provides a surface for lamps or ornaments above while keeping newspapers and magazines neatly organised below.

Originating in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, these compact tables were designed to hold sheet music, periodicals, and newspapers. The Regency period saw an increase in brass decorative metalwork integrated into mahogany occasional furniture.

Pieces from this period frequently utilised solid or veneered mahogany paired with solid brass architectural elements, including turned spindles, cast feet, and decorative stretchers.

Authentic items show signs of hand-finished construction, such as threaded brass rod assembly, hand-turned spindles, natural tarnish or surface oxidisation, and traditional wood joinery on the underside.

Position the piece adjacent to an armchair or sofa end to function simultaneously as an occasional drink table and paper storage, blending functional antique elements into contemporary living spaces.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth, treat the wood with natural beeswax, and avoid harsh chemical cleaners on the brass to preserve its aged patina.
