Treasure Trove Worcester Ltd has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Elegantly modelled, the figure stands in a relaxed contrapposto pose, dressed in Renaissance costume with a broad-brimmed hat, ruff collar, belted tunic and short breeches. The finely carved facial features, flowing hair and crisply executed drapery demonstrate a good standard of craftsmanship, while the warm, mellow patina enhances the character of the piece.

The figure is integrally carved with its substantial octagonal pedestal, each side richly decorated with deeply carved foliate panels and moulded borders, creating a sculptural composition of impressive scale and presence.

Presented in good antique condition. Attractive colour and patina. The thumb to the left hand is missing from an old break. The figure retains its original ostrich feather leather fan. The feathers substantially moulting and would require replacing if desired for display
