Description

Late C19th Chinese square hardwood occasional table profusely inlaid with bone decoration.

Of square canted corner form and raised on shaped cabriole type legs . The top panel profusely inlaid with complex bone inlaid designs featuring landscapes , figures , clouds , birds and pagodas , some having red-stained highlights . The corners of the top inlaid with auspicious bat or dragon designs and the other sides having furher inlay featuring horse etc .

The openwork friezes below having turned bone spindle galleries, a further shaped frieze beneath with corresponding bone inlaid decoration, the legs having further bone-inlaid decoration.

In excellent original condition with no losses to the intricate bone inlay , having minor age-related shrinkage cracks to the panelled top .

An impressively executed inlaid table of practical scale and proportions for use as a low occasional or drinks table, to add an exotic oriental accent to an interior scheme.
