This pair of Georgian mahogany wine tables dates from c.1820 and originates from Regency period pole screens. Each table has a dark brown mahogany frame with an octagonal top housing a needlework insert, multi-ring turned columns, and tripod scroll feet displaying floral motifs in cream, green, red, and blue tones. The timber displays a rich polished finish, and the construction stands firmly on three scrolled legs. Measuring 70 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 23.5 cm deep, these small occasional tables fit comfortably beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa in a traditional living room, drawing room, or study, providing a compact surface for drinks or small decorative objects.

Originally designed in 18th-century Britain to support wine glasses or candles, these compact accent tables feature a slender turned pedestal resting on a three-legged tripod base.

Most period examples were crafted using solid dense mahogany, featuring hand-turned columns, pegged jointing, and occasionally fitted decorative needlepoint or tapestry tops.

Authentic period pieces display evidence of hand-tooling, asymmetrical timber shrinkage across the top, hand-carved leg joints beneath the block, and original patination with wood oxidisation.

These versatile small-scale stands work exceptionally well flanking a sofa, positioned beside reading chairs to hold drinks, or placed in quiet alcoves to display small lamps.

Dust the woodwork with a soft microfibre cloth and wax periodically with natural beeswax, keeping the textile panels protected from direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading.
