About Christ’s Hospital

Founded in 1552 during the reign of King Edward VI, Christ’s Hospital is one of London’s famous Royal Hospitals, established to educate and care for disadvantaged children. Originally located at the former Grey Friars monastery in Newgate Street, London, the school opened with 380 pupils, rising to over 500 within a year. In 1902, Christ’s Hospital relocated to Horsham, West Sussex, where it remains today as one of Britain’s most distinguished independent schools.
