Imari porcelain refers to Japanese ceramic wares produced in the Arita region and exported via the port of Imari, typically characterised by an underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron red palette with floral or figurative decoration.

These ceramics were crafted from kaolin clay, fired at high temperatures with an underglaze cobalt blue pattern, and subsequently embellished with low-fire overglaze enamels and gilding in secondary firings.
